Academic Awards 2023 booklet

10 Brief description of the process The committee reviewed all the reports and motivation letters independently and presented their personal top 2 or top 3. Our main criteria included readability and accessibility of abstract, introduction and conclusions to a non-expert in the field, clarity of argumentation and illustration, originality, potential for publication. This general set of criteria provided a good framework for this, although we also noted extra points for relevance to societal challenges and the broad personal development/engagement with extracurricular activities. This resulted in a shortlist of 4 candidate winners, which were discussed in a face to face session (for the first time for this committee). In this discussion we reflected on the many merits and potential shortcomings (there were few) of each of the reports until consensus was reached. COMPOSITION OF THE JURY Prof.Dr.Ir.
